'Farewell, Master Holbytla!' he said. 'My body is broken. I go to my fathers. And even in their mighty company I shall not now be ashamed. I felled the black serpent. A grim morn, and a glad day, and a golden sunset!'
Merry could not speak, but wept anew. 'Forgive me, lord,' he said at last, 'if I broke your command, and yet have done no
more in your service than to weep at our parting.'

J.R.R. Tolkien, "The Lord of the Rings"

I like that picture, it's beautiful. =) I wish I can draw same well.
But... That's not Merry there, that's Sam! :D

because everybody think Sam is the chubby one. Every hobbit is chubby, provided he has enough food to eat. Probably Sam was far more slender than Merry, at the end of the journey to the Crack of Doom!

This is truly amazing. You have really succeeded in creating a wonderful, sorrowful and "Tolkienish" ambience in this drawing. The drawing is complete with the selection from The Return of the King, and I don't think the drawing would work as well as it does without it. Great job! I personally think that this is one of the best drawings I have seen that's related to Tolkien, when talking about feeling. Merry's face is really perfect! Keep it up!
