This is an interesting piece to gaze upon as the textures lead the eye on a trail across the page. The dark of the opening helps to embolden the image of Saruman in the centre and the alternating light / dark of the tower drags our gaze around the image to absorb every detail. Each shape is smooth and clear which combines the the constant alternation of colours to make the image flow much better. The fact that you can still see some of the brush marks in the tower only heightens the feel of magic running through the tower. To improve perhaps making the colours on the robe slightly more visible.
I just wanted to let you know that I put this in an art feature in my group , in the article "Realms of Fantasy and Myth: Finale - Tokien's Legacy". You can find it here: realmsoffantasy-myth.deviantar… ^_^
Fantastic Artwork At this point, I'm only able to quote Saruman of the manycolours: "Radagast, the Brown. Radagast, Friend of Birds. Radagast, the Fool! He was wise enough to do so as I wanted him to do. The white light can be splittet up, the white Paper can be written on, the white Robes can be coloured. I am not Sarumen, the White any longer. I am SARUMAN OF THE MANY COLOURS!"
Have you seen Saruman in LOTRO? The developers made his robe (and a special horse you can earn) actually shift colors like iridescence! I get that same impression (in a static sense of course) from your coloration... as if it modulated as he turned in the light. Wonderful work!
He looks handsome, he looks smart. He is a walking work of art. In his coat of many different colors. How he loves his coat of many colors. It was red and yellow and green and brown and scarlet and black and ochre and peach and ruby and olive and violet and fawn and lilac and gold and chocolate and mauve and cream and crimson and silver and rose and azure and lemon and russet and grey and purple and white and pink and orange and blue
